A nationally recognized writing consultant, Jeanne Barker-Nunn has worked closely with academic writers as a teacher, coach, and editor for more than thirty years.
Having served on the faculty of three universities, Dr. Barker-Nunn understands well the demands and pressures of academic life. She is also knowledgable in the expectations and practices of academic publishing, having worked as managing editor of a leading interdisciplinary journal and as a consulting editor for several scholarly presses.
Over her career, Dr. Barker-Nunn has helped scholarly authors with well over five hundred published works in a wide variety of subject areas across the humanities, social sciences, and applied sciences. Since founding J. B. Barker-Nunn & Associates in 1996, she and her colleagues have helped more than two hundred clients plan, complete, and publish their scholarly work and advance their academic careers. Her clients have come from universities and colleges across the country and abroad and every career stage, from doctoral candidates to senior faculty.
She has taught academic writing and professional editing at the university level and is widely read in the available research on scholarly writing, publishing, and faculty development. Her interdisciplinary background includes degrees in American studies, English, and education, and her own research has focused primarily on the writing life, both literary and scholarly. Dr. Barker-Nunn is also available as a consultant and trainer-coach for faculty development initiatives and workshops.
Some services may be provided by a select group of associates, all of whom have advanced degrees and extensive experience and/or training in academic editing.
